Information for cruise passengers

We now have all the facilities to arrange visa-free shore itineraries for sea cruise passengers. We will pick you up at any dock, provide a personal guide for your entire time ashore, arrange transport, pre-book entrance tickets to museums and other attractions, and do the paperwork for your visa-free disembarkation.

Please note - we do not put groups together for such tours, nor we have ready-made 'standard' packages. What we offer is a personally tailored itinerary built to include the sights you want to see and the activities you want to do, assembled the way you want - on foot or by minibus, 5 hrs a day or 10 hrs a day, as-many-sights-as-possible or take things in at a relaxed pace. Besides the bare-bones cost of a private guide there are extra expenses involved here - the visa-waiver paperwork, the minibus, all the entrance tickets to the attractions you want to visit etc. Naturally, all these things build up - don't be looking for bargains here. You will get a good deal if you team up to form a party of four or six - that's where we really compete pricewise with the standard options offered by the ship.

Where you definitely gain by booking with us is the individual approach to putting your programme together, and also the guiding. We are not a conveyor belt - think of a difference between a chain hotel and a small family run business.

Please direct your inquiries to us at info@peterswalk.com, or check current info on our forum: http://www.peterswalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=9.

Where does my ship dock in St Petersburg, and how does that affect my stay?

There are currently five possible locations around town where sea cruise ships may be docked, with varied degree of accessibility to/from the city centre. They are:

1. The English Embankment
2. The Lieutenant Shmidt Embankment
3.The Main Sea Passenger Terminal
4. The Industrial Port, berths 32 and 33.
5. The Marine Facade terminal.

The first one is best - it is walking distance from the city centre, in a beautiful setting among historical buildings. Alas, the berth is too small for all but the smallest cruise ships.
The Lieutenant Shmidt Embankment is not much worse, right across the river from #1, great views and a short taxi ride to anywhere central.
The Main Passenger Terminal is farther away, but once you've cleared through immigration there are taxis ready to take you to town, and there is a public bus stop nearby if you feel ready to tackle the public transit network with no signs but in Russian.
The Industrial Port is the tricky one, located around 7-8 km from the city centre, its territory off-limits to all except cruise passengers and crew, plus a handful of 'insider' taxis and travel agencies' authorised vehicles. More info on all these places on our forum.
